Chocolate Date Squares
Sumber: Sweet Treats

250 g chopped pitted dates
150 g brown sugar
125 g butter
125 ml water
125 g plain chocolate
2 eggs
175 g self-raising flour
125 ml orange juice
125 ml milk
125 g chopped walnuts
walnut halves, to decorate

Chocolate Glaze Icing
200 g icing sugar - kita buat 130 g je
1 tbsp cocoa powder
1 tsp butter

1. Grease and flour a 30x25cm/12x10 inch swiss roll tin
2. In a saucepan, combine the dates, sugar, butter and water. Heat until boiling, stirring to dissolve the sugar. Reduce the heat. Simmer, stirring for 5 minutes until the dates are soft
3. Remove from the heat. Break the chocolate into pieces and stir in until melted. Set aside to cool
4. Beat in the eggs 1 at a time. Sift the flour and stir into the chocolate mixture alternately with the orange juice and milk until the mixture well blended. Fold in the chopped walnuts
5. Spread the chocolate mixture evenly into the prepared tin and bake in a preheated oven, 180 C for about 30 minutes until a cocktail stick inserted in the centre comes out clean. Allow to cool completely
6. To make the icing, sift the icing sugar and cocoa powder into a small heatproof bowl. Melt the butter in 1 tbsp of boiling water then add to the icing sugar, stirring well to make a smooth paste. Place the bowl over a saucepan of boiling water and stir for 1 minute
7. Pour the icing over the cake and smooth the surface with a spatula or a knife dipped in hot water. Cut the cake into squares and put a walnut half on the top of each one

****CDS ni kita buat sebab banyak sangat stok kurma (beli dan org bagi) kat rumah
Rasanya kalau buat chocolate ganache utk toppingnya lagi sedap
